What is Career Coaching?
Career coaching helps people maximize their own performance by providing them with the tools they need to set better goals and then design a game plan to achieve those goals. Coaching can help a person develop short and long-term career plans, improve communication skills, learn job search skills, enhance leadership behavior or survive a merger or acquisition. Career coaches are not therapists, consultants or best friends; they simply provide the tools, support and structure to allow people to accomplish more.

Anyone who wants more out of their career needs a Career Coach. For many of us, our careers have ”just happened“ to us, and we’ve managed to grow despite our lack of a plan. But with the current business climate of mergers and acquisitions, competition on all fronts and technological advancements, we now need to take control of, and responsibility for, our own futures. Career Coaching provides much needed perspective, guidance, insight and feedback and a process by which important goals can be set and realized.

Goal: Determine short and long term career goals, develop a personal career plan and a cultural fit profile. - Career Transition Planning Module
Goal: Develop job search skills and an actionable plan and timetable for making a job change. - Image Consulting Module
Goal: Create or change your image. - Company Assimilation Module
Goal: Getting off to a great start in a new company. - Organizational Effectiveness Module
Goal: Creating a plan to increase your effectiveness in your own organization. - Merger/Acquisition Module
Goal: Develop a plan for living through an acquisition or merger.
The Carlsen Career Coaching Approach
Each program offers four main development categories:- Assessment & Discovery Phase
Your Carlsen Coach will use a variety of assessment and discovery tools to help develop a baseline perspective on you and your career. - Evaluation Phase
A series of discussions and workbook activities will allow you and your Coach to hone in on setting appropriate goals. - Plan Development Phase
You and your coach will develop a plan, strategies and tactics and a timetable for execution. - Coaching Time
The exact amount of time spent with a Coach varies, depending on the module. Most provide for nine to eleven hours of time talking directly with your Coach.
